Owner & President
Rick almost has sawdust in his veins! His father started Cyr Woodworking in 1961 and, at 16, Rick started working in the shop, learning everything he could about the men, their tools and their craft. When his father retired in 1975, Rick took over the business. He was 19 years old. His vibrant, tireless leadership for the last 50 years – and the amazing group of craftsmen he brought together – has created the Cyr Woodworking of today: the go-to workshop for innovative, beautifully crafted commercial furniture. “I am proud of team we have become and of all the ‘impossible’ things we have figured out how to build.”
His hopes for the future of our company? Simple: “To continue to do highest level of work we can.”
Andrey Polgun
Operations manager
Andrey, originally from Belarus, came to America as a young man of 24. He had worked there in construction. Once in the US, he worked with his brother-in-law as an Electronics Technician. When he became a citizen at 29, he decided to pursue his life-long interest in millwork. So, after he was graduated from the New England School of Architectural Woodworking, he came to work for Cyr. And work he does! 60 hour weeks are his norm. As our Operations Manager Andrey has a multitude of jobs. A natural problem solver, he can often be found in the shop ready to answer questions or lend a hand. One of the most satisfying aspects of his job is using industry-specific software to create precision shop drawings and programming for our CNC machines.
He enjoys a challenge and is rightfully proud when he is able to take a (slightly) crazy idea and turn it into something beautiful in the real world.
David A. Doyle
Project Manager, Estimator, Drafting/Engineering, IT
David started woodworking about 48 years ago learning in his dad’s shop. Making little bookcases and things. Over time he progressed to larger pieces of furniture and cabinets. In 1996 the hobby turned into a profession for him. He owned his own business for 11 years where he built custom furniture and built-ins.
David always knew that he wanted to create and design ever since he was 12 years old. He went to school for Architecture and ended up with a degree in Civil Engineering and minors in Architecture and math.
David has been working at Cyr for over 11 years. He lives in Cromwell with his girlfriend and their German Shepard, Shelby, and finds enjoyment in working on projects around the house and creating delectable dishes in the kitchen.
